Collection Weickum

Johann Jacob Weickum (1770-1834) studied Classical Philology at the famous Friedrich August Wolf in Halle and had worked for forty years as a teacher and vice principal in Mannheim. With small funds he acquired approximately 3,000 books which he bequeathed his grammar school.

Most of the books in his collection were written in Latin, but the German philosophical and pedagogical literature of his time is also well represented. Karl-Friedrich-Gymnasium gave the collection in 1930 as a permanent loan to the Public Library Mannheim.
